Move Over Match.com

Think His Tractor's Sexy? Site Helps Farmers Find Love

If you're looking for love, but farm livin' is the life for you, there's a new Web site that might do the trick.Jerry Miller thinks the farmer and the cowman should be friends, and that rural folks should stick together. So the suburban Cleveland man's doing something to help country folks find someone special: Farmersonly.com. It's an online dating service with profiles of nature lovers, farmers, and those looking to find old-fashioned love in a new way. Miller said his site caters to people with the old-fashioned traditional values of America's Heartland. There are about 1,800 profiles listed. Miller created the site in May after listening to a divorced farmer speak of her dating woes. She couldn't find a guy who understood her rural lifestyle. Miller's not a farmer, but he works with them in his advertising job. And he seems to have struck a chord with people like the 22-year-old Wooster, Ohio, woman who said she's just looking for "a good ol' farmboy."You don't have to actually be a farmer to join the service; you just have to share similar ideals. Newcomers to the site are offered a free 30-day premium membership. After that, the cost to remain on the site varies by time from $9.99 for a month to $59.99 for a year. Farmersonly.com is also being featured in this week's edition of Newsweek.
