Fondren's Symphony at Sunset on Thursday
The 5th Annual Symphony at Sunset concert will be held on Thursday evening, October 6, 2005 . . . beginning at 7 PM, outdoors under the stars, on the great front lawn of the historic Cedars.
This year’s event will again be free to the public and Is made possible by our lead corporate sponsor, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi. The two hour performance will feature the full Mississippi Symphony Orchestra in concert, led by maestro, Crafton Beck. Beck has put together an exciting program of popular music made famous by our friends across the Atlantic Ocean, including music by Andrew Lloyd Weber, Handel, Sousa, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.
Pull together a group of your friends and neighbors, bring a picnic supper and your beverage of choice and and come out for a wonderful, entertaining fall evening under the stars in Fondren.
This free community event has become a huge autumn "tailgating" party, replete with everything from traditional picnic suppers to white linen and candlelight dining so I encourage anyone who has a chance to bring a bottle of wine or a cooler and come out to the Cedars on Thursday night. You can bring a blanket and sit on the ground however there are still openings available for reserved “Friends” tables. These tables for 8 with special preferential seating can be reserved for $500 by calling the Fondren Renaissance Foundation office at (601) 981-9606.
In addition, this Thursday kicks off the first ArtMix of the 2005-2006 season since the first Thursday of September was cancelled due to Hurrican Katrina.
